Apartment trifecta - Need new place & roommate

A three part issue:

1) My current roommate is awful. He is up at all hours, either playing music loudly or partying. Keeps me up and is constantly messing with my things. Woke up one morning after he personally saturated my keyboard. Seriously. I have to work long hours, can't deal with his childishness any longer.

2) I can't afford to rent in the city alone, I need a roommate. Are there any good local resources for finding one? This last one was via Craigslist, and obviously that didn't work out so well. Was it just bad luck, or is there a better way to find a new roommate.

3) I need a new place to live. This lease isn't up for about two months, but I want to be in a position where I can leave not have to renew when it's over. Do any of you have recommendations, maybe on specific apartment complexes? I'm tired of this Oak Park dump.
